The red deer is a symbol of the Bulgarian hunting management. Because of the rich natural biotope and the good management, there are particularly strong populations with very good trophy qualities – with vigorous, beautiful and symmetric crowns, dark antlers with many pearls, with long and even spikes and white ends.
In Bulgaria the red deer is hunted walking and from high seat. During the mating period, the hunting is most successful and is an unforgettable experience.
In many Hunting Areas red deer trophies over 9,00 kg can be gained. Hunting Areas located in Northeast Bulgaria offer capital trophies over 12,00 kg. The red deer in the mountainous areas in Rhodope Mountain, Vitosha, and Balkan Mountain have weight between 7-9kg. The heaviest trophy in Europe - 19,20 kg. is gained in the region of Balchik (at Black Sea).
